Tests on children should always be done or supervised by an adult. See the instructions provided with each product for safety instructions to follow if using the JusChek products on a child.
Results from JusChek RAT kits will be shown in a cassette window showing both a control and test line, labelled C and T respectively. The instructions provided with the test will provide examples results could look like.
A positive result indicates the presence of SARS-CoV-2 antigens in the specimen you have provided. You must isolate at home and get a PCR test at a laboratory or testing site as soon as possible to confirm if you have COVID-19. Contact your state or territory health department to find out about quarantine requirements while waiting for your PCR test result and beyond.
A negative result indicates it is less likely that you have COVID-19, or the viral load is too low to be recognised by the test. It is possible for the test to present a false negative (incorrect result) in some people with COVID-19. In case of suspicion, repeat the test after 1-2 days, as the coronavirus cannot be precisely detected in all phases of an infection.
You still need to follow all public health advice on limiting the spread of COVID-19 if you test negative. If you feel unwell or have symptoms you should get a PCR test at a testing site as soon as possible to confirm you do not have COVID-19.
As well as positive and negative results, a test may produce an ‘invalid’ result, which means it has not worked correctly. If this happens, you should throw the test away and either perform a new test or get a laboratory PCR test done at a local testing site.
When the control line, labelled C in the test cassette, appears in the cassette window the test unit is working properly.
The colour and intensity of the lines have no importance to the interpretation of the result. Even a faint presence of a second line, labelled T in the test cassette, is a positive result.
Every JusChek RAT kit comes with a biohazard bag to place the contents of the test into (including the swab). This bag should be placed into another bag for disposal with the household rubbish. Wash your hands carefully after completing the test and disposing of the test kit contents.
